Daniil Hetman, composer

Daniil Hetman (b. April 19, 1990, Dnipropetrovsk) graduated in piano performance from the Glinka School of Music in Dnipro in 2009 and in composition from the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy in 2018, studying under Ludmila Yurina. His compositions have been presented at international festivals in Odesa, Antwerp, and Kyiv, and at contemporary-music masterclasses in Belgium and Ukraine. His work has also been heard at the “Premieres of the Season” festival in Kyiv and in the “SoundMine” and International New Music master classes; his awards include the I. Karabyts Grand Prix of the International Competition for Young Composers and a Gold Diploma at the Oscar Rieding International Composers Contest.

Based on its name, With Its Feet It Cuts Its Path by Daniil Hetman, one might assume that this piece embodies the idea of movement, travel, which ideally should be crowned with success. But in this case, even if one sees an action, it is only in the fact of determination to write.
